Stability of the TECSAP by Jie Hanna Joy Plecerda
The Eyoners Club Scholarship Assistance Program (TECSAP) is such a great help as well as an avenue for the club to help those students, who are financially unstable but deserving and intellectually competitive to finish a degree. Thus, the TECSAP has been realized through the benevolent heart of our alumni to share their blessings.
As we know, we had Genefe as the fist A1 Scholar. However, she had failed to meet the policy of the TECSAP when her CGPA went down. Even though, she has not fully enjoyed the program but still the 2-semester financial support to her was realized. I would like to express my utmost thank you to our alumni who helped. Since, Genefe forfeited the scholarship, the club, as suggested, decided to find another student as a replacement. Last September 2007, we had the recruitment process. After going through with the process, we finally selected Mr. Romark Cornel. As you can see, his profile has been provided to you. He is in his first year right now taking up AB Communication Studies major in Development Communication. Of course, we understand the need of a scholar who will never fail again the program. Thus, Romark has undergone a thorough evaluation by the members with the help of the advisers.
Furthermore, to make the TECSAP be a successful program, the need for financial stability of the fund should be taken into consideration as early as now. I have provided you with the financial statement to see it for yourself. I am addressing this to our alumni who ,in the first place ,committed to have this kind of program. I know that you have this benevolent heart to pursue what has been started. As you can see in the table (above) the remaining amount for the TECSAP is P11, 766. Yes! This fund is still enough to finance the program. But how about the incoming semesters? This is a great need that should be given an attention. I believe that the needed amount which is P24, 234, is not a big burden to you my jos and jies. With the help of everybody, this is just a little sharing of blessings. To make everything clear concerning the needed amount, this goes like this. Our scholar Romark Cornel is now on his 1st year, so by the next semester, he will be on his 2nd year. This means that there are still 3 years more, to finance the program. Since, we still have P11, 766 left as of this semester; we need to accumulate P24, 234 for the stability of the program, until his graduation for the 4-year course.
If you want to help accumulate the needed amount, you can send it through this savings account: JEAN GALENZOGA -S.A. 2006-0797-36. You can contact Jie Jean through her cell phone # 09066952784 or any of our advisers: Jo Jae Lord (09193431605) and Jie Diane (09193634980). The club would be very happy to hear response from you, our jos and jies, about this serious matter.
Before I end this, in behalf of the club, I am so happy knowing that despite the time and space that separate us, the spirit and passion of being an Eyoner is still alive. Thank you for all the support you have given to us. Indeed, we treasure them more than words can say. May you continue supporting the club! You are one of our inspirations why we are still keeping the fire burning.

The Eyoners Club Student Assistance Program by by Jie Jean Galenzoga
The Eyoners Club Scholarship was not new to me because as a matter of fact during my freshman year I was one of the aspiring students who tested my luck. I wan not enjoying any scholarship at that time and my earnest desire to help my mother lessen the burden of supporting me financially was my great motivation to grab such a rare opportunity. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to make it up to the top 1, but I knew life wouldn’t end there because a year after that I decided to apply as an Eyoner and fortunately, just last year I became a full pledged member. The bottom line is, I may not get the scholarship I badly needed at that time but what I’ve achieved now is more than enough. Being in the club is one of the fruitful years I have in the university. It really paid all my efforts and sacrifices. It just shows that God has greater things in store for us, if we just keep the faith.
Barely a month after our acceptance (Batch Ouvrier), the club decided to give me a greater challenge, a task which I cannot refuse and that is being the chairperson of TECSAP. It came as a surprise and I was really overwhelmed to the trust and confidence they reposed on me and it’s funny that once before I was an applicant of the scholarship and now I’m taking the floor of being the chairperson. When I look back to that day, it just made me smile for now I know that God has greater purpose for me.
I know how hard it is to be given such a big responsibility but with the help of my jos and jies I am able to make through. My batch mates Jie Donna and Jie Chelo helped me make and post the information drive and I was so happy because the response was overwhelming. I received roughly 5-15 envelopes containing application requirements everyday, even though they knew that we would be selecting only one scholar. It just shows that there are still a lot of students who are in need of financial support but sad to say we have to choose the one who deserves and needs it the most.
There were 40 applicants who took the exam last September 22, 2007 (1-5pm). We first gave a shore orientation regarding the TECSAP, followed by the rules of the examination proper. We immediately checked the papers afterwards and painstakingly rechecked and evaluated the results. We finally came up with the top 5 and interviewed them the following day. We were both objective and subjective in choosing the next Eyoner scholar. We considered their financial needs as well as their intelligence capacity if they can sustain their scholarship granted that they would be chosen.
The panel who interviewed were composed primarily of Jo Jae Lord, Jo Greggy, Jo RJ, Jie Hanna, Jie Nova, the chairperson and some other jos and jies present at that time. After knowing their conditions, background and other necessary matters, we trim down the top 5 to only 2. The next basis would be the Cumulative Grade Point Average there earned after the 1st semester A.Y. 2006-07. Then finally, after the rigid process, we were able to come up with our scholar who is Romark D. Cornel, a first year AB Communication Studies student, major in Development Communication (for more information regarding the scholar, kindly check his profile on the site).
Just recently, we successfully conducted the Science-Mathematics Quiz Show at the Academic Complex last January 23, 2008. the solicitations letters really helped a lot, but it wasn’t enough and we can’t afford to jeopardize our preparation for the reason that we don’t have sufficient funds. So, we find means and ways to cover up the expenses for the preparation. With that, we are appealing to you jos and jies to please donate any amount you can offer to help support our scholar. And your help will not be put to waste and it would really help a lot in realizing one’s dream. In behalf of the Eyoners Club, I want to thank those people who are in one way or another contributed and extended their efforts in making this Student Assistance Program possible.
May God bless us all. TBITS
