What Matters Most To Me by Jie Hanna Joy M. Plecerda

“What matters most to me is the 1st letter of the alphabet which is “A” and the first letter of the Roman numeral which is I. These things stand for the Eyoners Club; my Ithaca-my home.”

I have been in the club for almost four years. Those times I have spent in the club have been very fruitful. I can say that I really grow in different aspects of my life. I have come to realize my strengths as well as my weaknesses. Indeed the club has molded me to be a better person, ready to face the consequences that life has to offer me. These things cannot be possible without the people behind- my “jos” and “jies”. Thank You So Much!!!

The club has paved the way for me to meet people who become my family in my stay in MSU. The club has become my oasis and home. They helped me to find myself and know myself better. They become one of the reasons why I really treasured my stay in MSU. Those happy as well as sad moments in the club have added other chapters in my life that I will always cherish wherever I will go. I have meet people who are responsible in bringing me to the best of my abilities. They helped me to realize my potentials. Their trust, encouragement, support and pieces of advice become the pillar of realizing my worth as a person and as a “jie” in the club. I owe so much to you my “jos” and “jies”. I have found the masterpiece in you; a work of art it’s true. You become one of my inspirations in everything I do. You made me to be strong. You helped me to see life from a higher view and to see it from a wider horizon.

Now, that I am laden with this heavy position, rest assured that I will give my very best to be an effective president with your support. For without you as my comrades I am weak, for you are my strength to make all things possible. Frankly speaking I have not aspire for this position not because I am afraid of big responsibilities, of course I welcome those because it helps me to grow, but because I know within me that I will always be an active member without it. As what a saying goes,” It is not the position that makes a leader. It’s the leader who makes the position.” Indeed this saying is really true but I can hardly say that I am a leader and that leadership really lies in me. Quiet odd? Yes it is! But I know that having this title is not important, what matters most is how you live with it with all your might .This is a big challenge for me and I will face it together with you-my “jos” n “jies”. I hope that you will continue working for the club. Let’s keep the flame of passion for the club burning. I will really try to get the leadership within me for the betterment of the club. Even before I am still a neophyte in the club, I am really dreaming to awaken the spirit of the club and prove to the university as well as to our alumni that the club is still alive. And that the blood of being an Eyoner has not run dry. I want this dream to come to a reality because plans without realization are useless. All these things are possible with your cooperation and support and my “jos” and “jies”.

As of now, what we can do is to strengthen our commitment to the club as well as the spirit of brotherhood and sisterhood to one another. “Thy Brother is thyself!” With all these things there will be no strong waves that could harm neither any storm that could break us apart. Yes, things seem difficult but it’s not impossible to achieve them .We just need to let the blood of an “Eyoner” runs continuously in our whole being for this will bind us all unto the to zenith of our goal.

Before I end my message, I would like to thank our dear club advisers, who are very supportive to the club, especially Jie Dianne and Jo Jae Lord. You have been our pillars in our journey in the club. To our alumni, wherever you are right now, I would like to express my utmost “Thank You” for being here for us despite time and space. We are looking forward to see you again. Life has become more meaningful and colorful with all you my JOS and JIES. May God bless us all! Carpe Diem!
