THE EYONERS CLUB
Mindanao State University
Marawi City
September 23, 2006
To all members,
The first semester of this school year is almost over. It has been a long semester for the club. At the beginning, the members of the club were so much as excited to meet again as we were saddened by Jo Dingdong’s absence, especially those members who were very close to him. But then, to our relief, Jie “Diane” Macarambon came along. She was new to most of the members. This semester is her first year of teaching in the university. And she is now our active adviser and we are very thankful that she has been very supportive to us.
Basically, all we did this semester was we had our recruitment. It started on July 3 and we just had the finals last September 9. And now we have 3 new half-breed members. Quite frankly, the screening process was very dragging. It took so long. For me, I think one reason for this is that most of the members who usually come at the regular meetings are the half-breeds. And almost the same people come during meetings. So, decisions are not that easy to make.
I can tell you this though, I’ve observed that most members lay low, if not very low, after about one semester or two right after their finals. It seems to me the members are not that much motivated to even come to our meetings. I’ve been with the club for two years now and I really hate to see all this things happening to club.
I really do not know how things were back then before we even came to this university. I do know that the club back then was really outstanding in almost all respects. There were lots of major activities during that time. What I don’t understand is how or why they slowly faded away. Since I entered the club, I think the really major activity that we had in the university was just the University-wide Science-Mathematics Quiz Show.
Things have changed significantly. Internally, the club members have changed; externally, the society and economy have changed. But I say, were still holding on! Perhaps were not that lustrous as the earlier members were back then, but we still do carry with us the principles and ideals and the spirit of The Eyoners Club.
In line with all that I mentioned, I would like to include here our proposed activities for the next semester. We decided not to hold our Science-Math Quiz Show next semester. Instead, we will focus on just internal activities. By this, I mean we will “polish” the club, starting with amending the constitution. It’s because we see that there are many things in the constitution that are not anymore realized or otherwise applicable to the present club members. So, basically this is all that we are going to do next semester along with possible acceptance rituals of some of our half-breed members. Details on the constitution amendments will be posted accordingly.
As a last note, I’d like to add that there are plans of bringing back the Mindanao-wide Science-Mathematics Quiz Show. The tentative schedule for this activity is on the next school year. As early as now I’d like to ask for the support and blessing from all the members for the success of this activity.

Hi Jo Jeff! Remember me? Jie Janneth. I agree with you! I was even an inactive member during the last year of my stay in MSU. Aside from being busy with thesis, I was busy also looking for Uyab... hehehe... joke lang. Anyway, I was successful that time kay nakauyab man gyud nahimo pa gyud nga bana. Well, despite from being inactive my heart still belongs to eyoners. My 4 years of stay was spent with the eyoners man pud. Jo president, normal lang na...Pero don't lose hope... Financially you must be ready also kay daghan dili mangamot. I was once a treasurer. hehehe. Keep the club alive. I appreciated much the talents and creativity of our Jos and Jies who posted our club through the internet, makawala ug kamingaw. Good luck to all.
